Hello There! (And a yummy hot chocolate recipe)

Ummm, what is this thing called a blog? For months I've wanted to sit down and start this blog up again, BUT oh my, let's just say we've been a little busy around the Smothers residence and I just haven't gotten around to it.

So where do I begin? Umm, well I'm currently 7 months preggo with a precious little girl that we have decided to name Saylor Kate Smothers. My 2 year old is talking in sentences and has definitely arrived at the (dare I say it?) "terrible twos". Now, I don't think he's terrible at all, but he's learning new things, new emotions, and new ornery habits everyday. I actually love it- as exhausting as it can be at times- more than any stage so far.

Ryan is staying busy at work and busy playing with his little buddy when he gets home- as I cook dinner I look into the living room to see wrestling, bull riding, and gun shooting with all the sound effects. I love evenings at home with my boys. I can't wait to add a little girl to the mix, but it's also bittersweet as these are the last few months of just us and Gage. We dreamed of him for so long, and have enjoyed each moment and milestone with him- it's so crazy to think we get to experience this with another precious blessing and so soon! I feel like we were just bringing Gage home. Our world does revolve around him and I'm sometimes nervous as to how he will adjust to not being the only "baby" in the house.

Usually I wait until after Thanksgiving to put up Christmas decorations, but this year Gage is already grasping the idea of Christmas, Santa Claus, baby Jesus, etc. and so I thought why not?! We put up the tree this week and really been enjoying getting in the Christmas spirit with some hot chocolate, Christmas music, and Gage running around naked in his Santa hat! =]

There are so many things I want to do to prepare our hearts for the Christmas season, and it excites me to know that Gage is now old enough to begin understanding and getting excited about things. I can't pin enough Pinterest crafts, decor, etc!! There is nothing I enjoy more than knowing I'm investing in my family and already making traditions and memories for us as a soon-to-be family of four!!

What are some holiday traditions you enjoy as a family?

Before I go, I MUST share this hot chocolate recipe. It's soooo creamy and sooo rich and soooo perfect (and SO bad for you).... but for a treat every now and then- it's a must try! We enjoyed it the other night with some homemade pumpkin pie and by the end of the night we all couldn't move! But it was amaaaaazing.
